Project Based Management Structure – TGA Core Team
On every commission, irrespective of size, TGA Consulting Engineers LLP establish a "Core Team".
This Team is comprised of:
- A Project Partner who is ultimately responsible for the project and for liaison with principals within the Client’s organisation and those of our fellow design and construction team members.
A Project Leader who is responsible for the management of the project within the office. The Project Leader ensures that the project is adequately resourced to meet the agreed programme and implements the Practice's Quality Management System by signing off project deliverables such as drawings, specifications and calculations and by chairing frequent project review meetings.
Two Lead Project Engineers, usually one mechanical and one electrical, though we sometimes add a third to cover ICT issues on projects with significant computer data / telephony systems. The Project Engineers are experienced Senior Engineers who will take the Lead Engineer roles in their technical discipline for the project.
- On small projects the Project Engineers may work without further technical support and one of the Project Engineers may also be the Project Leader.
Our Core Team is intended to form a consistent framework which enables a larger TGA team to be built around it during the appropriate stages of the developing project. The Core Team will be the visible face of the project encouraging the formation of team spirit within the wider Design and Construction Teams and providing consistent communications between TGA, our Client, the Design Team and the Construction Team.
The adoption of a compact Core Team during the early stages of the developing design also, we believe, encourages a holistic development of the fundamental principles on which the later design and construction stages will be built.
On larger projects the Core Team will be supplemented by further Senior Engineers, Engineers, Junior Engineers and Technicians working directly under the day to day guidance and control of the Core Team at the appropriate stages of the project.
This structure is illustrated on the Organisational Chart which follows.
TGA Consulting Engineers enjoy a very low level of staff turnover, particularly among managerial and technical staff. Turnover of senior technical staff, those who make up our Core Teams, is particularly low. This usually enables us to maintain a consistent Core Team over the life of even large projects and framework agreements. Indeed, we encourage our Core Team members to develop longer term relationships with the Client and with other members of the wider design and construction teams as we feel that this enables us to work more effectively on potential new projects. We believe that this approach has helped in our being able to procure a great deal of our commissions through repeat instructions from existing Clients.TGA Consulting Engineers enjoy a very low level of staff turnover, particularly among managerial and technical staff.
