Information Technology
TGA makes extensive use of Information Technology throughout the Practice in order to support and enhance the capabilities of our design staff. Both offices have dedicated computer data and telephone networks linked to managed file servers and PCs at each workstation. Voice over IP technology is used to provide internal telephone services, both internally, as well as linking between the two offices using our Virtual Private Network (VPN).
Our file servers and e-mail systems are protected by managed firewall and virus protection systems. A comprehensive backup regime is in place, utilising a combination of daily, weekly and monthly backup tapes, supplemented by DVD records of archive projects.
E-mail access is provided to all staff with addresses in the format:firstname.secondname@tgace.co.uk
The facilities in use in both offices are summarised below:
- Drawing Production: AutoCAD 2008. In house laser plotting, scanning and printing facilities up to A0.
- Computer Aided Design: IES Virtual Environment, HevaComp Mechanical and Electrical Design Suite, Amtech CableMaster (Electrical) as well as various manufacturer's packages including Dialux and Relux.
- Document Production: Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel)
- Project Management: Microsoft Project
- Standards Information: On Line internet based Information / Standards system provided by IHS
- e-mail: Services provided by Demon and Zen Internet
TGA Consulting Engineers LLP can demonstrate that we enjoy very low levels of staff turnover, particularly at Senior Engineer level and above. As a result, the experience gained from working in the above environments is largely vested in current staff based at either our Durham or Stevenage offices. This experience is thus of real potential benefit to Clients in this complex field. The individual pages that follow provide further details of our experience in this field.
